Jason Davis is a 32 year old seasoned saxophonist, composer, educator and music producer from Dallas, Texas with over 20 years of professional performance experience. He began performing classical clarinet solos around town at age 8. Jason feel in love with the tone of the saxophone and quickly switched over to tenor sax. The teachers that help nurture his natural talent are Rev. Sly Wallace, Dean Hill and Norman Fisher. Jason Davis leads his own jazz quintet They've appeared in shows with Roy Ayers, David "fat head" Newman, Roy Hargrove, Eraykah Badu, Jill Scott and a special performance for the Mexican Consulate General. As a studio artist he has recorded with the groups Pieces of a Dream, The Dallas Jazz Orchestra, Tommy Young West, Page 43, The DFW Art Ensemble , Redd Young, Charles Collins, Ndami, God's Property, Geno Young, The Birth of Whack and several other self produced jazz compilations. The Dallas Morning News featured Jason Davis in an article spotlighting the growing Dallas Jazz Scene and the conversion based artform that Davis created called Huesic. His sideman experience includes Sandra Kaye, Jeannette Brantley, The East Texas All-stars, The Impressions( Curtis Mayfields Band), Cuba Godding Sr., Onzy Matthews Big Band, Laney Mc Donald, Paul Salos Big Band, Inner City All-stars Brass Band, Robert Sanders Big Band, Rodger Boykin, George Florence, Camp Wisdom, Lamount Taylor, Linny Nance Network , Mahogany, Edwin Holt and The Conspiracy Band and Dolphin Crusies Lines. Residencies, community service, former clients and educational performances include Maynard Jackson Elementary School, Elisha M. Pease Learning Center, DIFFA Dallas, The American Cancer Society Race for the Cure, The Black Forest Theatre, Upward Bounds, The MAC, Mountain View College, Science Place, Jazz Artist in Residence at the South Side on Lamar Lofts, The Girl Scouts of America, Phi Delta Kappa, Dallas Museum of Art, Sambuca Jazz Cafes, A Taste of Dallas Festival, Strictly Tabu, Southern Methodist University, University of Texas, Texas College, Dallas Fort Worth International Airport, Paul Quinn College and NAACP Act-So Competition. Jason is a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc.( Spring 96) and Who’s Who Among Student on American College Campuses (1997). His music production skills can be found on the new CD collaboration with nationally known drummer Jamil Byrom entitled Room Temperature. While not performing or recording he enjoys family and friendly Bar-B- Ques and many other fine outdoor activities including hiking and fishing. Presently, Jason Davis is recording his live performances, finishing his second jazz method book (Jason’s Approach to Improvisation), writing a Broadway Musical based upon his life, launching the Flip Flop Movement and performing with small groups, brass bands, big bands and vocalist everywhere that there is good music.
